Budgeting for New Year

Bismillah

Some tips to save:

1) Coupons: either cutting them out from magazines or newspapers; printing from the Internet. Whenever I buy online or I know I’m going to make a purchase in advance, I surf the Internet for a coupon

2) Get rid of the landline: Most people have their cell phones handy with them 24×7, therefore skip having the landline and only pay to have your cell phone as your primary phone.  I’ve been doing this for over five years with no issues

3) Ditch plastic water bottles: Use a reusable water bottle to drink water which is good for you and the cheapest drink on any menu

4) Sell on eBay: I’m sure most people have something that they won’t use that can be another person’s treasure.  Sell old or new things you don’t need on eBay and make a quick buck

5) Save money on car insurance: I use Progressive.com; I get the most minimum coverage on both of my cars because both my husband and I are good drivers and we drive safe.  There’s a lot of bogus coverage you don’t need.

6) Unplug appliances and devices from electrical sockets to save energy to reduce power usage; will help reduce your power bill

7) Allow sunlight in your home by opening blinds and curtains and reduce heat usage during the day; turn down the heat when you are not home

8 ) Use cold wash for your laundry and hang dry clothes if possible (i.e. dress shirts)

9) Minimize driving for shopping by ordering online, look for free shipping deals online.  Save time standing in line at stores or being caught in traffic

10) Buy in bulk; it reduces trips to the store and you can get better deals (i.e. shopping at Costco)

11) Turn in coins for cash if you have a bunch lying around or use them whenever you go shopping, it can get annoying but you are putting them to good use
